Notes:
A Velvet Rose. Vibert exhibited 'Gloire des Hellenes' and 'La Nubienne' as distinct roses in 1842. 'La Nubienne' is listed from 1826 and 'Gloire des Hellenes' from 1837. Sangerhausen describes the color of the bloom as dark red-carmine-pink. 'Nubienne' in Sangerhausen and in commerce does not conform to the original descriptions and seems mislabeled.
