Bred by Pierre-Hubert Portemer père (France, 1851).
Introduced in Australia by Northampton Nurseries in 1861 as 'Lady Stuart'.

Bloom:

Blush, darker center, ages to white . Moderate fragrance. Medium, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, globular bloom form. Occasional repeat later in the season.

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Hardy.

Modern Roses 10 classes this rose as a Hybrid China. Graham Stuart Thomas correctly puts it with the Hybrid Perpetuals. The earlier hybrid China 'Lady Stuart' (pre 1833) is once-blooming, Portemer's 'Lady Stuart' repeats.
