Throws out a fantastic, abundant first flush with huge beautiful flowers. Subsequent flushes produce much fewer and much, much smaller flowers.

I got mine last year. It stayed green over winter, but then all my roses did this year. About Face is VERY VERY thorny! I am in Zone 7 and have found this one prone to blackspot in my area, but it responds well to spraying. It is a bloom machine and grows fast in comparison to a lot of roses.

Hi,

We're in Zone "7b"--kind of an Inland Coastal range--in Oregon. Can I ask how your blackspot played out in "About Face"? Also, the thorniness? We're considering it. Gorgeous photos. Thanks, Jenny

My About Face rose is a little disappointing as I don't think it handles heat of summer well at all for me. The plant kind of shuts down and the very few blooms I get from end of June on are small, nondescript, and an unimpressive muddy apricot color. The Spring flush is pretty nice however as the blooms are larger and more colorful. The bush foliage is very pretty dark green and grows vigorously in the spring and early summer until it heats up, then it balks.
Just my opinion.
John

I agree in St Pete Fl the rose is getting huge throwing out rambling type canes ...... and it is ALWAYS in bloom ...I did not expect for it to get so large . I have 3 and I may have to dig up the 2  I have planted because they are taking over all of the roses around them. But  I do really like the rose . Just my 2 cents
