Source: L'Haÿ-les-roses Label R. rugosa var. chamissoniana Rehder & E.H. Wilson (1915) The type is recognized as a species by IOPI. The origin Meyer/South Africa can therefore not be correct. The l'Hay label possibly refers to C.A. Meyer, who first described a R. rugosa var. chamissoniana in Zimmtrosen 34, 1847. This taxon is, however a single variety and different from the above.
