Ludwig's Roses of South Africa discribes this rose as:
The Leigh Matthews Memorial Rose is a hybrid tea rose with classical urn shaped buds and beautiful, full pink blooms on long stems, making it an ideal garden and picking rose. This rose has been dedicated to keeping the spirit and memory of Leigh Matthews alive by raising money for projects that support victims of crime. Proceeds from the sale of each rose will go to the Leigh Matthews Trust, which is currently assisting in re-establishing the University of Johannesburg (formerly RAU) Stress and Trauma Centre in Brixton. The Leigh Matthews Trust was established in her memory with money donated by the public and is administered on a voluntary basis by Ivan May, John Doidge and Rob Matthews, Leigh’s father. The Brixton Trauma centre has been renamed the Leigh Matthews Trauma Centre. Funds from the Trust will be used for start up costs and to buy items that the centre could not otherwise afford. A second project being considered for support relates to DNA testing.
