Origin:
Bred by Eugène Verdier fils aîne (France, 1861).
Introduced in Australia by Joseph Harris, South Yarra Nurseries in 1865 as 'Madame Charles Wood'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Red, ages to deep pink .  Moderate fragrance.  45 petals.  Large, full (26-40 petals), cupped-to-flat bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
