Coquitlam, BC Canada July 2007. This is the center (main) bloom of a spray which I broke out, to make room for the others to open. This is even more beautiful than the one next to this, which was almost fully open.

This photo taken by my son Michael with a new Leica digital camera. These are the same 3 blooms in the photo next to this, but those were taken with my Olympus C-4040 ZOOM.

These blooms opened with some sunshine and there is quite a difference in color. With lots of sun there would be more pink/red around the petal edges like the photo with 5 blooms.

With full sunshine when opening the colour change is dramatic. Compare with the other photo, same plant, "NO SUN" a year later.

These blooms opened in rainy weather, but were protected from rain. With lots of sunshine blooms will be more white towards the middle and more pink/red around the petal edges. Just look at the other photo with 5 blooms for comparison.

This photo taken a year later on the same plant. Now opening in cloudy weather. What a difference the sun makes !
