Origin:
Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), before 1888).
Introduced in Germany by Rosenhof Schultheis e.K. in 1888 as 'Baró Majthényi Natalia'.
Introduced in Luxembourg by Ketten Frères/Bros./Gebrüder in 1889 as 'Baró Majthényi Natalia'.
Class:
Bourbon, Hybrid Arvensis.  
Bloom:
Purple - violet, lighter edges.  Ages to ash-grey.  Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped-to-flat bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Climbing, few or no prickles/thorns.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .
