I am pleasantly surprised by this roses's resistance to blackspot.

one of my favourite austinses. the shape of it´s petals is exceptional. the young shoots can be almost purple, which looks charming together with the bright colour of the flowers. i think it is better planted together with summer-flowers and grasses than other roses for best effect. fascinating, how a fragile-looking plant like this carries it´s heavy blooms. for an english rose the fragrance is a bit disappointing.

This is a rose for hot sunny weather. We had an exceptionally wet June with rain at least every other day if not more for the last few weeks. All openning blooms balled and immature buds turned yellow. All of my other roses are happy as can be.
2009
Move the plant to a sunnier and airier part of the garden and it has improved markedly. Now it does not send out long floppy canes and he now behaves more like a lax shrub. Repeated 3 flushes of blooms from June till August. Quality and quatity of blooms has also improved. No diseases for the past 3 years so this rose is definitely a keeper. I will have to move it again to a more prominent part of the garden beacuse it is stunning in bloom.

I love this new Austin rose, I think it's his best rose in years! So far a heavy bloomer, even though it's brand new and crammed in with way too many other roses in it's bed. So far, so good with disease resistance here in black spot alley. Very nice old rose fragrance to my nose.
