'Mother of Pearl ™' rose Reviews & Comments

I certainly echo what everyone else says. This rose always catches the eye, as it is nearly always covered with beautiful blossoms, and was a full-sized bush in its second year. Highly recommended, in spite of the lack of strong fragrance.

Well, John has pretty much noted all the superlatives of this rose. It astonished me here in southern Ohio in its first year--vigorous and floriferous from spring to fall. Will see how it survives the winter.
This rose, with some Buck parentage, has proved remarkably hardy.

Beautiful, rather long-stemmed roses. Healthy and floriferous.

I planted this Mother of Pearl rose bareroot into a pot in early April 2007 and it has taken off and performed admirably. It is very vigorously growing and adding on basals and new flower buds at an extremely fast pace. It is obviously a grandiflora by sight and will be blooming some large blooms in sprays of 5 or six roses each it appears. The color of the blooms is a true mother of pearl pink and very attractive. They carry more substance than the color would lead you to believe so it holds form for a long time--10-12 days--on the bush for me. The foliage is a lighter green in color, shiny, and of medium size. It is attractive to look at and I think the bush is going to have plenty of leaves to prevent that bare legs look too many are guilty of having. I would recommend this as a good garden rose for most people. It grew and established itself fast enough to earn a spot in the garden its' first year instead of the original pot I planted the bareroot in when I got it from the nursery. I would only recommend that you give it plenty of room to spread its' wings so to speak as it does grow very bushy and somewhat spreadout. Update: The Fall flush of Mother of Pearl has been very delightful. The first year rose continues to pump out lots of big, beautifully made, and colorful blooms as it has the entire year. The Fall flushes has only made this a better rose as the blooms are even more abundant and larger in size. Though it really isn't exhibition, this is an excellent garden rose for those who like a big splash of color for their rose garden. This one will definitley give you that splash!!! UPDATE Spring 2010---This rose continues to be a superlative garden rose. It is vigorous growing and blooming, disease resistant, and super winter hardy in my zond 5/6 location. It had almost no die-back whatsoever this Spring so it is already about 6' tall this early in the spring.
