p294. 'Meg' [Modern Climber]. Gosset, UK 1954. Thought to be 'Paul's Lemon Pillar' x 'Mme. Butterfly'. The large, almost single, flowers of buffish-yellow have flushes of apricot and highlights of peach, and pronounced anthers. Foliage dark green and semi-glossy. Growth upright and bushy. A superb rose. Repeat flowering from early summer. Tolerant of poorer soils. Slight fragrance. Available widely at the time of writing. 8' x 4'. 2.5m x 1.2m.

Meg (Climber). This is an outstandingly beautiful climber.. The large single flowers with russet red stamens are buff-yellow flushed apricot and scented. The foliage is dark and glossy. 1954. (R) 10 x 4’.

Editor [L. V. Lawrence]. Climbing Roses. The semi-double 'Meg' with her shell pink tinted apricot blooms with red stamens, is another wonderful climber to have in the garden. It is constantly in flower.

'Meg'. 1954. 'Paul's Lemon Pillar' x 'Mme. Butterfly'. Unusual and beautiful in that the semi-double blooms are 6 in. across and of a lovely shade of shell-pink, coral, and peach with crimson stamens. Received the N.R.S. gold medal. It may be considered to be almost perpetual-flowering, and attains a height of about 12 ft.

'Meg'. Though not quite so beautiful, may be said to be an easy 'Mermaid'. The large yellow and pink blooms are produced with great freedom throughout the season. A new climbing rose with a great future.

Mrs. F. J. Guinan, Wellington, N.Z. There are two new HT climbing roses which are perpetual flowering. One of them, a seedling is 'Meg', which was raised by an amateur. You will find a colour plate of it in this year's English Rose Annual. It is a very free flowering rose and the colour is coral pink with peach shading. It is a fine rose for a pillar or a fence.
