I got this rose a couple of years back as part of the J&P Test Rose Panel. It grew very vigorously in it's container the first year and I gave it good ratings in the test scores.
I transplanted it two years ago in spring and it kind of stalled out that year and last and didn't do much of anything spectacular. However, now in it's third year in my garden it has finally matured and established itself and is doing wonderfully.
The bush is not overly big at a bout 3 1/2' to 4' tall, but has very nice shiny dense foliage with dense leaves that so far has stayed perfectly healthy. It is a medium green in color.
The flowers are beautiful. They are a very shell pink in color and have very good exhibition form with most having dead on centers. I only get single blooms and haven't seen any sprays. The fragrance is to die for as it is very strong but not sickly overpowering as some can be. My only complaint with them is that they could be just a bit larger, but that is quibbling. Each flush has had about 25 blooms to it and they have long stems and last a long time on the bush or when I cut them for a vase in the house. Weather has not seemed to bother my rose at all. We have had lots of rain and the blooms do not ball up or get water spots on them as many roses of this color does. The blooms have been very reliable that way.
Our winter this past year was bitterly cold for many weeks but we did have a good snow cover which I think protected all of my garden roses quite well. April in Paris was quick to break dormancy and start growing and blooming.
Our summer weather hasn't seemed to bother the blooms either as our 100 degree weather does to many of the roses causing the blooms to be small and short of petals until the cooler Fall weather returns.
All in all I really highly recommend April in Paris for those in climes similar to my own here in Northwest Missouri zone 5b/6a.

My first year bush was robust and covered with beautiful healthy foliage. It bloomed well and repeated quickly. The delicate pink blooms are beautiful at their best (as you can see from the photo I posted), but are fragile and effected by heat, burning sun or wet weather. Nice moderate fragrance. Will be interested to see how it does next season when the bush is more established here in Newberg, Oregon.
