Class:
Hybrid Rugosa, Shrub, Species Cross.
Bloom:
White with light pink edging. None / no fragrance. 5 petals. Small, single (4-8 petals), cluster-flowered, in small clusters, flat, prickly receptor bloom form. Moderate, once-blooming spring or summer. Long, pointed, ovoid buds.
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles. Small, matte, blue-green, attractive fall color, edged purple-red, leathery, maroon highlights , maroon underside , wrinkled (rugose) foliage. 7 leaflets.
Growing:
USDA zone 2b through 9a. Can be used for shrub or specimen. Very hardy. flowers drop off cleanly. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Needs little care; relatively disease-free and quite hardy.
Breeder's notes:
New canes are red in color and new leaves have a purple-ish tinge to them. The hips are very bristly as are the buds to some degree.
