Breeder's notes:
This is a breeding plant only.
Although it is rarely generous with bloom, its offspring often bloom copiously. Seedlings bred from it often have excellent dark glossy foliage and great vigor. It has been recently observed that many of the offspring from this plant have near immunity to Blackspot, and this makes this a potentially valuable plant for hybridizing. I have noted also that although this is a fiercely thorny hybrid, it is capable of producing thornless offspring when mated with a thornless parent.
