'Pompon de Paris' I have only grown this rose in its climbing form; if I had any confidence that the Miniature could be obtained, I should have filled in its details above, and appended five stars; for a little pattern of the climber would be charming indeed. It used to be one of the most popular Miniatures of the flower markets. The flowers are a happy pink, bright against the dark green leaves, which are cut clean and small. I glimpsed the nearest sight of what the original may have been by pruning some climbers hard, and planting them in my greenhouse, so that the plants flowered like bushes next season, before the climbing shoots grew; very pretty. The origin is not clearly known, but it is thought that the rose was introduced about 1839
