The painters cut my lady banks off the arbor on my house so they could paint. The main trunk is cut at the bottom side of the arbor being held to the chain I have going up to the arbor. What do I do? Will the lady banks come back with branching?

Lady Banks is a VERY vigorous rose and has been known to grow to a huge size. Because this rose has such vigour, there is a good possiblity that it will come back.

We live in Zone 7B in South Carolina and have just purchased two ladies bank roses (yellow), most of the sites say Zone 8-10 but one site said 7b. Should we prune this back in the winter so it will regrow in the spring? Thanks.

Yellow Lady Banks gets huge here in north Texas (the size of a Volkswagen, no kidding!). Put them where there's lots of space. I'd only cut back any growth that winter-killed. This rose is not ever-blooming. So the more you cut off in the fall, the less glorious blooms in the spring. It's a bit dry and shady where my plant is; it's a year old and over 12' high and 10 feet across. I'm in 7B also, and I plan to add a large back of mulch at the base when really cold weather comes, and I'll water before the first few hard freezes so it doesn't dry out. I love this rose! Barbara.

Our white has been planted about 5 years.
First year sparse bloom.I fertilized with two spikes high postasium.
Second year nice blooms.
Third year. so so. Fourth Year ,I really pruned heavy and did not fertilize.
This year beautiful large classic rose .but not one blossom. This fall I plan to fertilize wiht spikes
and only prune tips of long canes.Right plan or not? V.R. Homer Va. Beach,Va.

White Lady Banks make growth in a season and then the next year will bloom on that wood it made. If you prune these roses back hard, then you have cut off the new flowers. This rose can be pruned back right after it has finished blooming. This will give it time to make new wood which will have flowers on it the following year.

Lady Banks Rose has one flush of flowers and then doesn't bloom again. Pruning right after it has flowered is the right time to prune it but it will only encourage more blooms the following year.
