Mar 2011 Austrian Copper is sold in NorCAL in Half Moon Bay at Pastorini's Nursery on the south side of highway <92> when heading west toward the ocean. It appears rangey & thorny, definitely a 'wild austrian' look to it; But it did have blooms on it that sunny September day in 2010.

"Austrian Copper - R. foetida bicolor - Grows to 7 feet, reasonably hardy. Single bright orange, very startling. Most people love it, but I think it swears at everything else, and should be planted by itself. Blooms once, sets seed. I have seen no black spot."

I was recently in Ouray Wyoming during a three month long motorcycle trip around the US, when I came across two stunning bushes of a rose I'd never seen before. Bright red/orange petals but yellow on the becks. I brought hom some hips and placed them in damp peat in a plastic bag in the fridge in the hope of getting them to germinate. Fingers crossed.
