'Basye's Purple Rose' Reviews & Comments

Some of the photos the color is richer / darker. Does a bit of shade or more sun bring out the darker color?

In the northeastern USA (I'm ten miles north of Boston), how tall can I expect Basye's Purple to get?
For the spot in the landscape I'm envisioning I would want a rose that gets at least 4' high, and preferably 5'. It will grow next to something like Therese Bugnet or Eva (the hybrid musk), and I need it to be tall enough that it will be visible next to either of those (and not so short that it looks ridiculous).

I have kind of the same question. In looking at very sources, I am learning that different sources can give very different sizes for the same rose. I notice that Paul Barden tends to have higher numbers for his size estimates. Perhaps it's the climate where he is or he just has an amazingly green thumb. For Basye's Purple he says 7 or 8 feet high and 7 or 8 feet wide. That would be too big for my garden, but on the other hand, the numbers cited here on HelpMeFindIt (5'h x 5'w) would fit in my garden. So, yes, it would be nice to get some word from folks in the same area (I'm in NY state, Westchester County).

I have a thicket of this rose coming through a large rosemary bush. Right now in December, the rosemary is blooming pale blue flowers and the remaining leaves on the Baseye's purple are peach, gold and burnt orange. It's an amazing combination. I'm in the Atlanta area.

please tell me how often this rose actually blooms. i am in northeastern connecticut. i am trying t decide on a deep red to purple rose, preferably a rugosa, but not necessarily. is it deeper than ann endt?

The main difference is in the stems : Basye's Purple has purple stems and Bark. Ann Endt does not.
Ann Endt repeats all the time in my area (USDA 10b zone).
Dunno about North-eastern Connecticut...
