This rose has a strong fruity old-rose fragrance.

Mine didn't like shade at all, but once moved to a large pot in sun til 2pm it has taken off like a rose on steroids. Grafted: Very well branched--9 canes so far! No spray garden this year----no bugs, no BS, no disease. I await spring blooms.

I planted this rose last year and it grew very tall but did not flower at all. I do have it where it would get some shade. Does anyone have any suggestions?

As far as I know, yes, but Souv. du Docteur Jamain doesn't like to have a full sun place. I advise you to plant it somewhere, where it is protected by some shadow.

This is absolutely correct.
Moreover, I noted this spring my two SDJ that grow under partial shade
begin to sucker like if they were Gallicas!
Not all HPs do that, and my SDJ did not until now -after 7 years-.
