Is this "Sutter's Gold"? (see question 5 days ago: Is this "Sutter's Gold Cl."?)
The flower is a bit damaged by caterpillars, the sun, heat and drought!

Don't know. Try to match up a bud and stem photo with one on HelpMeFind. There are good ones in the file. The deeply coloured buds and prickly pedicels are fairly distinctive.
Changing the possibility from 'Sutter's Gold Cl.' to 'Sutter's Gold' shows you are on the right track as SG is a tall rose. For me, smelling 'Sutter's Gold' is like dipping my nose into the most ripest, delicious pineapple I could ever buy. It does not grow well on its own roots for me, otherwise I would have six of 'em.

My so-called Sutter's gold Cl. is defenitely not the real one!
However my (not climbing) Sutter's Gold is the real one; what an exquisite, strong fragrance!!!
I would highly recommend this-one for "sniffers"!

I made pictures of hips from the "Sutter's Gold" and the so called "Sutter's Gold Cl.".
They're completely different!

Also the "Sutter's Gold" is repeatedly (almost continuously) flowering; the so called "Sutter's Gold Cl." blooms just once, but abundantly! Notice the difference in colour in the original posts for both roses.

This rose is amazing, one of the best of the overlooked hybrid teas. The fragrance is powerfully strong, deliciously fruity and citrusy. And the colors are flaming and wonderful.

This bush built up rather slowly for me, and it is naturually spindly. Although I view this as elegant, covered in deep green healthy foilage. And although the flowers may open rather fast, the buds are perfection for a fleeting while.

Hybridizers: It is an excellent hip setter, and the pollen is fertile. It can pass several colors and even color fast reds. But this is an especially good rose for hips.

Can't let this pass by... Here are 3 reasons to enjoy hips: 1) they're beautiful in the fall 2) you can make rose hip tea or jam from many hips 3) you can breed more roses!

This rose is the most fragrant that I can remember! My mother grew it in Silicon Valley
in the 60's. The colors were bright yellow/orange/red and it opens rather fast, but
what I scent. We always cut it in for bathroom, before quests arrived! I believe it won
the Gamble Fragrance Award many decades ago. --K Haas
