Origin:
Bred by Georg Ruf (Germany, before 2008).
Introduced in Germany by Rosenschule Ruf in 2008 as 'Wild Eagle'.
Class:
Hybrid Rugosa.  
Bloom:
Red, lilac shading.  Strong fragrance.  Cupped, open bloom form.  
Habit:
Spreading.  

Height: 32" to 47" (80 to 120cm).  
Growing:
Can be used for hedge.  Hardy.  produces decorative hips.  Disease susceptibility: blackspot resistant.  
Breeder's notes:
'Wild Eagle' was one of the 42 sorts in the hedge, which had fallen through, but then I realized that this was the most beautiful in the whole hedge: the darkest colour, the tallest shrubs and always the most blooms! So she was added to the series and is now the most desired of all (Werner Ruf). [see also the story of the hedge in the notes to Georg Ruf].
