Bred by Pierre-Hubert Portemer père (France, 1856).
Class:
Moss.  
Bloom:
Red, violet-red center.  Medium, double (17-25 petals), in small clusters, globular bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Dark green foliage.

Élie-Abel Carrière was a French horticulturalist, botanist, author and- from 1866 until his death thirty years later- an editor-in-chief of Revue horticole. He born in May-en-Multien (Seine-et-Marne) on June 4, 1818, and died in Paris on August 17, 1896.
