This year this rose has a strong fragrance for the first time: it's a pleasant mix of rose, Tea and bitter almonds.
In rainy weather it turns more pinkish and gets pink spots on the petals.
Something causes to wrinkle some of the leaves and flowerstems.
In my opinion it's more a repeat-bloomer, than a continuous flowering rose.
It has some stunning flushes throughout the season, when it is covered with flowers. Some come as one big rose per stem (as a florist-rose), others come in complete bouquets and are half the size of the latter.
At lower temps the flowers are darker, more apricot/orangy/salmon (and even a little red). When it's warmer they are more pink.
Part of the flowers have a double hart. But they look good and open well too!
A real keeper and very healthy!(until now)
This rose withstood the last cold winters in zone 6a/b with flying colours!

Can anyone tell me how Sunset Celebration does in a hot climate? I see that it was bred in England, so I hesitate to try growing it in zone 9. Do the flowers or leaves burn in hot weather? (I have a couple of roses whose flowers shrivel and leaves get brown edges as soon as summer weather arrives, and I don't want to end up with more of those.) Also, is Sunset Celebration very thorny?

Hello,
I'm sorry to react so late, but I live in zone 6b.
I react because this rose is growing at my place in full sun in front of the brick house-wall and is surrounded by stone pavement.
Even though it became a lot of sun the last two years, (and it gets very hot at that place) it never got burned or shriveled petals!
It's a beautiful rose, but one would expect/like more fragrance!
It is very disease resistant at my place.
The first years, at least, it needs some watering.
Maybe some HMF site-visitors, from hotter zones, can supplete this reaction?

The Montreal Botanical Garden recommends this rose as resistant to blackspot, powdery mildew, and rust:

I assume this means that (probably with protection) this rose is at least somewhat winter hardy in Montreal, far north of zone 7.

sunset celebration was a potted rose i got at a local walmart. The huge bloom and apricot blend is what caught my eye. A beautiful full rose, a wonderful blend of peach outer petals opening to apricot on a strong stemed high centered rose. Great for cutting. Staying power in a vase for several days. slightly scented. This one is a keeper. Flushes quickly after spent bloom is removed.
