Bred by Unknown (before 1836).
Introduced in Australia by John J. Rule, Victoria Nursery in 1857 as 'Général Bernard'.
Class:
Hybrid China.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red, violet shading, silver(y) flecks, ages to lilac .  Moderate fragrance.  Average diameter 2".  Medium, double (17-25 petals), expanded , globular, scalloped bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.
