‘Blanche Moreau’ = mousseux.

Blanche Moreau  Tall, white, midsummer, P3,  H1. *
A good white Moss rose, with dark leaves for its class, a help to the colour.  The mossy growth is also dark, which renders it less dainty and conspicuous than one might wish.  Lanky growth. The name does not mean white moss, but refers to the raisers, Moreau-Robert, of Angers, France.  They raised it from 'Comtesse du Murinais' x 'Quatre Saisons Blanc', and introduced it in 1880.

Blanche Moreau, a tall-growing, pure white Damask Moss with distinctive brown mossing, had as its parents two distinguished roses: the lovely blush-white Contesse de Murinais and the Perpetual White Moss. It is supposed to flower again in the autumn but we get few, if any, late blooms. We were able to procure this rose in New Zealand, where it is quite well-known. In a dry hot summer it needs water and extra manuring if it is to bloom well in the autumn.

Moss and Provence Roses.
Their beautiful buds and delicious fragrance render these great favourites, and deservedly so.
Pruning.—These should be slightly pruned. Remove all old wood, thin out some of the past season's shoots where overcrowded, shorten the laterals of those remaining, and cut back the young growths to about six eyes. Prune in February or March.
Blanche Moreau... Pure white, perfect form. Well mossed. Introduced 1880.
