I ordered this rose early last year as Springhill Nurseries was selling a limited number plants a year early than its official release. I love stripes, so of course I snatched it up. The plant is a fine grower and had above-average blackspot resistance while most roses in my garden completely defoliated thanks to wet weather and a little known hurricane named Harvey (I kid). It has a nice, bushy shape. It bloomed well. The color is certainly unique as it's not really an orange and yellow stripe. It's a more rusty orange with a more cream-orange stripe. On the hottest days in Houston the blooms did fry a little, and the blooms don't last quite as long in extreme heat as other do, but this is one of the better all-around strips I have. If you like stripes, snatch it up this spring for something unique.

Why was this rose not allowed to be sold in California and other selected states?

What other states was it restricted from? It has recently (December, 2017) become known there was an outbreak of Rose Rosette Disease in a Weeks field in Wasco, CA. The budded roses grown in that specific field were restricted from being sent to states where RRD isn't already wide spread. They were, however, sent to states already having RRD. Was this not sold to those states for 2016 or early 2017? There is a question how long ago the RRD outbreak was known.

High Country Roses has it own-root.

It is in California, and a very nice rose too. I saw it today in those peat pots that are used for "bareroot" roses now. It was in the "patented" section at an OSH big box store in San Diego (Fletcher Pkwy), selling for $18.99, under the Weeks label. They had many.
