For those in the western, warmer US thinking of growing this rose --

This is my first season growing Emily Bronte in San Francisco (10b), and I adore her. She had a nice spring flush, then went quiet until November, and just had 10 really nice blooms. She's slower to establish than other Austin roses, it seems.

The flowers are really nice cut flowers. They've lasted a week in the vase, and continue to have a glorious fruity fragrance. They also have few thorns, which is nice. People interested in roses for cut flowers should consider this rose.

Importantly, however -- midsummer, she already threw out a 6+ foot long cane, so I had to move her from the front of the border to the back, and into a shadier location. I had given her full sun before, but I think she'll be happier with some afternoon shade.

She seems to be taking longer than other Austin roses to establish, but I quickly went from feeling lukewarm about her to really loving this rose.
