Rosa burgundiaca, Decand. Rosa parvifolia, is eene fraaije bastaard, die de Rosa centifolia Lin. volkomen in het miniatuur gelijkt; evenwel zegt men, dat zij in 1735, in de omstreken van Dijon, in Frankrijk, in het wild groeijende gevonden zou zijn; van daar welligt dat ik haar ook als Rosa na (1) onder den naam van Pomponroos.

Rosa parvifolia, is a beautiful hybrid, which is the Rosa centifolia Lin. completely resembles the miniature; However, it is said to have been found growing wild in the neighborhood of Dijon, France, in 1735; That's probably why I also call her Rosa (1) under the name of Pompon rose.

Les Rosiers dits Pompons ou Lawrenciana appartiennent à la grande tribu des Rosiers de l’Inde. Mais le véritable Rosier pompon est une plante française, indigène, qui fut trouvée en 1735 aux environs de Dijon, d’où elle tire son nom de Rosier de Bourgogne, Pompon de Bourgogne, etc. (Rosa burgundiaca). Ros. t. 4. - A very dainty rose! Stems 1-1 1/2' tall, almost unarmed. Leaflets ovoid, very small, wrinkled, dark green, somewhat silky below. Ovary almost globular, smooth. Numerous blooms, small, very pretty, double, flat, ranunculus-form, purple-red, with violet shimmer. - This rose is cultivated oft in containers due to its daintiness; she needs a warm location in the gardenand loose, good, not too wet soil.
