Rosa palustris is a single rose (5 petals). The styles are fused and do *not* protrude from the hypanthium (very similar to Rosa rugosa).
In this photo, the styles are protruding (similar to Rosa multiflora).
This photo may show a Rosa palustris hybrid, I do not believe it to be a "pure" species.
