Climbing Piñata rose - May 2019, Northern California, Vacaville - Zone 9b -
Charming and hardy little climber that is a great bloomer (and perhaps why it is called "Piñata"?). Petals open with a beautiful bright yellow/orange center and intense deep orange tips. When picked to display indoors, the color gradually fades to pastel shades as they open. When left on the plant, the orange gradually fades and the tips turn to a much a darker orange-red. No noticeable fragrance. I believe this rose was created by the original J&P back in 1978. It is a climber that does not get too huge and out of control, and is one of my favorite roses I've enjoyed for many years.
