My Winchester Cathedral (David Austin, 1988) is planted as a tree standard and is now about 7 ft (2.5 meters) after four years. If you own this rose, you might occasionally experience blooms that are partially pink displaying the fact that it's a sport of Mary Rose. WC's off-white, medium-sized rosettes are moderately fragrant and bloom in distinct cycles, about three to four times in my 9b Northern California garden. In growth habit, Mary Rose which I also have as a tree standard offers a more dense growth that creates a better rounded shape for a tree standard than Winchester Cathedral.
