VAIrishRose are the gardens of Charlie, Tina, Matthew and 9 year old Gavin Brannon. Our new garden for this year will present a combination of over 200 varities of roses and many different perennials as we have moved out to Purcellville, VA on 11.3 acres. Our future plans include expansion of our garden size once we have the fence put up around the back yard to keep the deer out up to around 2000-3000 roses and many other perennials. Gavin entered his second rose show back in June of last year at the Richmond Rose show in the junior exhibitor category and took top honors for Hybrid Tea and for Minuature and was to be featured in an article in the Native Plant Society for the Richmond VA area. I have looked for the article but have not been able to find it so I am not sure if it ever got published. I didn't place in that show but came back in the Arlington Rose Show to take top honors for novice exhibitor since I had not had any ARS certificate winners. Gavin continues to help me get ready for this year as we have potted nine new bare root roses and added four more tonight that were already potted. We are very excitied about our new home here in Purcellville, VA as it finally gives us all the room we need to have a very large rose garden. I am also going to try to form a new local chapter of the American Rose Society so wish me luck in that endeavor. Charlie and Tina have been members of the American Rose Society since 2001 and were members of the Louisville KY local society from 2000 - to August 2002 when Charlie's job back into the federal government service came open in Washington DC. The Brannons have been growing roses much longer as we started our first rose gardens in 1997 when we moved into our new house in Bartlett, TN and had entries into the TN state fair in 1998 and 1999. Our next event will be the 2007 show circuit as the Arlington Rose Show was our only show for 2006. Charlie plans to explore the option of starting a new rose society in 2007 with all the new housing going up in the Martinsburg and Charlestown WV areas. We are always open to be test evaluators for any new varities of roses from hybridizers and nurseries so if anyone would like for us to evaluate your roses please feel free to contact us by email - cbrannon@comcast.net or you can mail them directly to Charlie Brannon - 18234 Oakridge Hamlet Pl, Purcellville, VA 20132
UPDATE FOR 2008 - We are hoping for a milder spring than last year so that we can get the roses in the ground in late March or early April. We defintely have our work cut out for us as we have to prepare new rose beds for over 200 roses and growing. This spring weather has been very hard on the roses with the up and downs in temperature.

WE hope you enjoy our pictures of our old gardens in Martinsburg, WV and the pictures of the roses we post on the site. I will post some pictures of the new house so that can be seen and then will post pictures of the new garden in the making. Right now we are the only garden that has posted a picture of Classie Lassie which is also a classic phototropic rose.

Enjoy
