Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1992-93 Season
Spek's Centennial MACivy. McGredy 1991; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Pot 0' Gold'; bronze brown; 7 reports on 8 bushes; 1-2 years; 1.2 metres; 8.0 rating. Good reports in on this new bronzy brown floribunda. All love the colour and find it very good for floral art. Bushes are healthy and vigorous, upright in habit with dark foliage. Flowers are HT type and come singly or in small clusters, colour fades out in the sun to a sandy pink coloring, lasts well when picked. Sounds like a very promising rose to try.

Valerie Swane, Dural, NSW. Introductions for 1992.
Spek's Centennial (Macivy) - This rose was raised by Sam McGredy and named to honour the 100th anniversary of the famous Dutch rose company whose contribution to roses includes the old, much-loved and still popular 'Spek's Yellow'. 'Spek's Centennial' is a charming rose with many petalled, very strongly scented blooms of an unusual brownish-bronze colour. It is very free-flowering on a tidy bush which is to be expected of a rose raised from the floriferous 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Pot o' Gold'.
