The Old Roses
So much do we think of the Good Old Roses, growing more popular each year in spite of their antiquity, that we list them here by themselves.  Many of these are no longer in commerce but, recognizing their merits as well as their rich associations, we grow more of them each year.  We love and respect them.
Lamarque Climbing Noisette (1830)  Fine old rose, the parent of Cloth of Gold and grand-parent of Marechal Neil [sic]. Large white flowers tinted yellow amd very sweetly scented.  An "Old Rose of Monterey".  ...  $1.00

Climbing Tea and Noisette Roses
These are the Roses which make such a glorious display in the warmer sections of the country, covering porches, pergolas and trellises with their handsome foliage and gorgeous flowers.  Those marked H. will be found hardy even in the coldest climate if given protection during the winter, while those marked M. H. are moderately hardy and especially valuable for open-ground culture south of Philadelphia and in California.
Lamarque.  Moderately Hardy. — Canary-yellow, almost white.

At Whittier [California there] is the largest known rose bush in the world -- a 'Lamarque' 5 feet around the trunk at 1 1/2 feet above the ground. Its branches cover a large house and it is estimated that there have been 180,000 blossoms on it at one time...
