Bred by Pierre-Hubert Portemer père (France, 1836).
Introduced in France by Victor Verdier et fils in 1837 as 'Émile Courtier'.

Bloom:
Rose-pink, carmine-pink shading, lilac shading.  Average diameter 2.75".  Medium, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters, flat, rounded bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Glandular sepals, rounded buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, compact.  Dark green foliage.  5 leaflets.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
