R. anemoneflora Trailer   White   Summer    P4 H2
The anemone-flowered rose is not a true species; but it will not do for every writer to change the accepted order of  things, and therefore I meekly follow authority until such time as the difficult task of assessing the Synstylae is achieved. They cross fertilize one another readily, and even if seed were newly imported, there is no guarantee that it would not  have been made a hybrid in the wild.
This is a tender rose, with small double flowers resembling Anemone nemorosa. They are pink in the bud and open white. It has also been known as R. triphylla, from having some of its leaves composed of three leaflets; and  R. sempervirens anemoniflora. Indeed there is quite a resemblance to R. sempervirens in the flowers. It was discovered by Robert Fortune in a garden in Shanghai, and sent to England in 1844.

A species related to R. setigera is R. anemoneflora Fort. (R. triphylla Roxb.). This rose was found by Fortune in a garden in Shanghai, but later also discovered in other locations in eastern China.
