Nancy Steen.  Roses in a White Garden.
Last, but not least, is a Moss rose. - This is White Bath or Shailer's Moss (1817) -  the true original white Moss, as illustrated by Redoute.  It appears to appreciate being grown in semi-shade. The deeply-serrated, large, soft green leaves are handsome, as are the clusters of heavily mossed buds. Unfortunately, aphides attach themselves to this soft surface; and are hard to eradicate, even with spray, and we lose a number of buds because of this pest. The fully opened flowers, being rather muddled in shape, do not bear out the charm of beauty of the buds.
