I love this rose! It's a beautiful plum color (that my camera just won't pick up) that starts that color and ends that color--in full sun! In my hot and humid Virginia weather this bush, a band planted in April, has been disease free. The mature leaves are a beautiful dark green color and are a nice backdrop to the blooms. If you want a no-thorn purple rose then this is not it. It has a decent number of thorns, though not as many as Hot Cocoa, Deep Secret, or Kashmir. In my opinion, the thorns that it has are worth it for the bloom and leaf color and disease resistance. It really doesn't require a lot of maintenance either, so the thorns haven't gotten in my way. I can't wait to see what changes it makes when it's more mature next year!

P.S. Another great rose purple rose that I recommend is Poseidon, which has also been disease free. Poseidon is closer to lavender in color, whereas Plum Perfect is closer to, well, plum. Both roses retain their color very well in full sun (they start out their correct color and retain that color, or something close to it). Neither rose fades much.

How is the fragrance with this rose?

I love the fragrance, but I don't remember it well right now. My roses have all been putting on buds and I'm waiting for an explosion of blooms. I'll do my best to describe the fragrance when it does bloom (though admittedly, description is not my strong point...especially on scent).

No problem - thanks for you quick response! I'm thinking of purchasing this rose next year for container planting. How wide/tall does it get for you?

My rose is less than a year old, planted as a band in April. My research indicates that it grows 3-3.5 foot tall and wide. I highly recommend you try this rose--if it ends up not doing well in a pot, I'm sure you can find a volunteer to plant it in their garden!

Hello again! Sorry for taking so long to really answer your question on scent. Anyway, I've smelled a few blooms since you first asked, and I was surprised at how little scent they had. I could smell a very light, rose-petal scent, but I had to really stick my nose in there to smell it. It was pleasant, but not strong. I didn't think to bring a bloom in for the rest of the family to sniff, so I don't know if it's just me. Poseidon has a great scent, though, and has also proven disease resistant. It is, however, a different color and it's blooms are damaged a little by rain.

I think the height (1' to 16") in the description may be incorrect:
