Florentina is such a great rose, I sprouted a couple seedlings. This is the first to bloom. It is more coral colored, blooms in terminal clusters like the parent. August 9, 2025, Zone 7a, Provo, Utah, USA

If this is a OP seedling it should be listed separately. Nice!

Thanks! I thought it had to be registered or something? Anyway, if not cool! I will see about doing that.

No, it doesn't have to be registered.
You can call it what you wish and should be recorded as a new listing.

Within limits. It would be prudent to check that the name you have in mind isn't already in use. It annoys me that some of the big firms re-use names (cheaper to register them that way?), and declare a rose extinct - even when it's still around - so they can use its name.

Understood. I too get super annoyed when they recycle names!

Has anyone grown Red Cascade in a colder zone? Most comments/photos are from zone 7 and warmer.
I'm zone 5b/6a in mid Michigan and wonder how tall it will get, if it is winter hardy or will need protection, and if there are any disease issues?
I want to grow it up a trellis against our green shed, in mostly sun (a bit of part shade late afternoon), with good soil and good drainage.
Thanks!

On a south or possibly west facing wall, in full sun, it might be possible. I've not grown it. I would like to try, but even the 5b climate is challenging. I would winter protect at least the first year, and make sure it is well hydrated before winter.

Grows great on the 6a/b line. Mine are about 4 years old, and will easily spread 8 - 10 ft, and 4’ high. Always in bloom.

What’s the hardiness of this specimen?

Does anyone grow this rose? The foliage sometimes looks rugose and sometimes shiny. Are the stems rather rigid or flexible?
