A bit resinous peduncles or stems like Gallicas or Damasks. Not even that uncommon in modern roses and an olfactory virtue alongside the flowers.

I wish my Candy Stripe had stripes like this!

I've grown 'Candy Stripe' before and the stripes always came distinctly like in Beth's other photos. Perhaps the clone used in Australia was more stable, or there was poor selection in the US by some nurseries? The 2008 photo from member Edgecrusher also from Australia is typical of what I remember 'Candy Stripe' looked like for me.

This isn't Candy Stripe, but Candy Stick (Modern Times), a striped sport of Better Times.

We must have the wrong one in Australia! I see that 'Modern Times' is also called 'Candy Stripes' in South Africa, so perhaps easy to get confused. Actually, being a sport that ultimately goes back to 'Columbia' makes it even more interesting. Thanks, Kim, for the heads up!

I hope Beth will migrate (reassign) this picture over to Candy Stick because there is no image on HMF.

I have to say the photos here under 'Modern Times' do look the same as what I grew as 'Candy Stripe'.
