Unknown rose that was labeled ar "orange flare arbor rose" form Lowes. Nothing about this looks like the tag or any photos here. the flowers are HUGE with a blend of cool orange-redan a soft pink to yellow blend at the base of the petals. with sun exposure they turn up the red and create this massive sizzling red flowers. I had to heavily color edit the stamen photos to show the accurate color blending (thus the weird blue background.
Cooler weather has finally arrived – and drier too. We've had dewpoints above 70 degrees for much of the past 3 weeks, but it has dropped below 60 at last. Dewpoint will be between 50 and 57 for golf today with temps in the mid-70s. Gotta like it.
Deadheading has been ongoing, and I can't remember it being as much of a big chore as it is this year. I have many, many more blooms this year in part due to dealing with the midge problem last Fall. I have several bushes that are just bloomin' fools - 20-30 blooms and buds can be found on the likes of Voluptuous, Rainbow Niagara, Dick Clark, and Stiletto. I don't recall having to do so much disbudding either. Oh well, a labor of love I suppose.
I need to spray soon as powdery mildew season is upon us now that it's August and we'll have cooler nights. It's time for some fertilization in the coming week as well. Mid-month will be the final round of alfalfa tea for the year - it has worked wonders this season.
I'm anxious to see the next blooms on Muzi-Lucia. I criticized her somewhat in a prior post and it looks like I got her dander up. There are 3 good stems with 3 good buds right now - bigger stems and buds than she has ever produced. Hopefully it will result in bigger and better blooms, and a more vivid bloom color. We'll see.
