Bred by Barbier Frères & Compagnie (France, 1903).
Class:
Hybrid Wichurana.  
Bloom:
Orange-red and salmon-pink, darker reverse, ages to cream .  Strong, musk, sweet fragrance.  Average diameter 2".  Medium, semi-double to double, borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, flat bloom form.  Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.  
Habit:
Climbing.  Dark green foliage.  

Height: 10' to 25' (305 to 760cm).  Width: 10' (305cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Very vigorous.  shade tolerant.  Prune after flowering is finished.

Notes:
See also 'Auguste Gervais'. Often confused with 'François Juranville' in commerce - see References. The blooms of 'Léontine Gervais' are around 5 cm in diameter, while 'François Juranville''s are more than 8 cm.
Early descriptions of 'Léontine Gervais' as nasturtium-red mixed with carmine and salmon. The current rose seems lighter in colour.
