Photo taken in spring, 2006. In earlier years, there was another "trunk" at an angle to this one. That was lost, I think, in the winter before this photo was made, when there were some strong storms. The old wood was declining, seemingly termite-infested, and SOMEONE kept cutting away all new basals.
