Hi HMF Admin,

This isn't an error but a request to add Dreamsicle rose by Dave Bang (2018) to HMF. Would you please add this rose to the database so I can add its pictures? Thanks.

Thank you Dave. This rose is excellent in my garden. It is beautiful, healthy, and repeats well in my garden. Thank you for creating this rose and many other wonderful striped roses. Have you thought about creating nostalgic petal packed bloom roses like Juliet ( David Austin wedding rose), Miyabi (Japanese Wabara garden rose), Julie Andrieu (Delbard rose)...? It will be wonderful if roses similar to those can also be available to US rose gardeners. I can’t wait to see more of your new roses. Helen

I do have one rose that has seemingly endless petals and is extremely fragrant. I call it twinkle little star. You can see it here on help me find. You can buy it from the place you got swirly pop. When roses have that confused center I typically throw them away unless they are clean of disease. Some of my first roses like swirly pop, twinkle etc were my pride and joy. In those early days of breeding powdery mildew was to be expected but now that Jim Sproul has graciously given me some of his powdery mildew free roses, I have been breeding with them producing some clean beauties. So anything new I am setting the bar higher. Right now anything new I keep has to be powdery mildew free. These will be the next series of roses I am planning on releasing within a year.

I checked out the rose, and it’s beautiful. Soon I’ll received 7 more of your striped roses from ForLoveOfRoses. It’s a great news that your coming roses are even healthier than the ones you already released. Thank you for your beautiful creations.

I’m still amazed that you live from a driving distant from my house. I have a small garden, but I like to collect beautiful unique roses. I have an Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/webcoolz/ where I share the pics of some of your roses and other roses and give comments how they perform in my garden. Helen

I agree on Swirly Pop, it has been outstanding. It is my most-commented-on mini. The striping holds true even in high heat and I haven't seen a spec of disease in my no-spray garden.

Nice. What seven new ones are you going to receive. I am always in santa clara so we should hook up some time. I will also be giving a slide show of some new hybrids at the santa clara county rose society December meeting.

Here are the 7 roses I'll get: Bleeding Heart, Eureka, Love & Passion, Strawberry Delight, Summer Splash, Swizzle, and Twist ‘N Shout. That's a great idea. I'm sure I'll learn a lot about roses from you. Is the Santa Clara county rose society December meeting is open to the public or just for members?

Its open to the public with hopes of people joining. The December meeting is a Christmas pot luck dinner meeting so if you want to bring some food you can. All other months have no dinner.

The teach me instagram and then a bunch of ????. The ???? Was a smilie face. I guess hmf doesnt do facial characters.

Thank you for the heads up about the December meeting.

LOL, HMF hasn't updated their encoding scheme yet. I normally just use :) for smiling face in a text-only input box. I also like HMF has "Edit Post" option because nowadays sometimes when we do multitasking, we often need to go back to make things clearer.

I see that this picture answers the question I asked about container growing. Yours has longer canes than either of mine do. I’m hoping they will not outgrow their containers. Those same hanging containers held my Cream Verandas for several years no problem, until I went out of town and my boys didn’t water them during a heatwave. Do you think these will be comparable in size to Cream Veranda? My Cream Verandas were on their own roots, and I’m inexperienced with multiflora rootstock. Thanks. Lisa

Hi Lisa,
HMF displays its height as 20" so I think it can be in a container. I don't have Cream Veranda so I'm not sure. However, based on HMF they both seem like compact roses.

Thanks for your quick reply, Helen. That’s what I wanted to hear. It seemed comparable to Cream Veranda size-wise. I just wasn’t sure if the multiflora rootstock would affect Pompon Flower Circus’ mature size. I really know nothing about rootstock, except for Dr. Huey. I usually buy roses on their own roots, unless I have no other choice,( or I find a great deal on a rose on Dr. Huey locally.). Thanks again, and I’ve really enjoyed your pictures. Lisa

What a beautiful picture of a beautiful rose, Helen! I got two of them from Palatine this past November. Are you growing yours in a container, or the ground? Do you think it’s suitable for container growing, long term in So CA? All your photos are gorgeous, as usual. Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I think it should be fine in a container. However, I will plant mine in the ground once I find a spot for it. This is a precious rose so it's less risky to keep it in the ground instead of in a pot. Also, roses look best when they are in the ground.
