Origin:
Bred by Julien-ALEXANDRE Hardy (France, 1831).
Introduced in France by Péan-Sylvain in 1837 as 'Prince Eugène'.

Bourbon, China / Bengale, Hybrid China.  
Bloom:
Purple, carmine-red center.  Strong fragrance.  Medium to large, full (26-40 petals), cluster-flowered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Height of 2' to 4' (60 to 120 cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 5b through 10b.  Can be used for beds and borders or garden.  Disease susceptibility: disease resistant.

Eugène de Beauharnais, the son of Empress Josephine, was born 3 September 1781 and died 21 February 1824. He governed Italy from 1805 to 1814.
