That is one of the most beautiful roses I have ever seen, and what an amazing photo!! Your whole series of photos is excellent. I love being able to see the progression of the rose. You have quite a way with a camera as well as rose breeding!!

Hello Nicole,
I just uploaded it to HMF a few minutes ago.
Thank you for your compliments. And yes, it is an amazing photo. I took dozens of photos of this rose last October and just in the last few days I went through them again, as I needed a good photo for Hortico's web-site in E. Canada.

Question: Is Ingrid Bergman off patent yet?  I see that it was granted on 8/30/88.  I'm not sure how long the patents last.  I have read/heard 17 years or 20.  Can anyone clear this up?

Mike.........

The plant patent law was revised to allow for 20 year plant patents.

The name is also trademarked, making it illegal to sell this rose under that name without paying royalties indefinitely.

I've grown Linville for 3 years, now. A very vigorous, bushy plant of about 3 ft tall, it blooms its head off in fairly quick cycles.  I live on the Gulf Coast, and in our very hot, humid climate, Linville acts like 2 different knds of rose, depending on the season. In the hot months, blooms are maybe 1 1/2 in, white with just a hint of pink on the edges of the center petals.  In November and December, the blooms are larger to 2 in, and a pale blush pink. Very pretty.
