I planted this rose, bare-rooted, in the southern hemisphere winter of 2011, against an east facing wall where it gets good summer sun from mid morning till mid afternoon. In the first season it put on amazing, healthy growth with just a little powdery mildew from time to time. By autumn it had covered the two metre high wall to a width of two metres, but it produced not a single bud or bloom. This spring has been wet and cool, meaning a late season with many roses being in bud (mid November) but few yet being in full bloom. Virgo (Cl) has shown nothing but blind shoots to date, despite a generous dressing of potassium sulphate. It is perilously close to getting the chop.
