Nieuwesteeg Rose Nursery Pty Ltd
12 Nov 2005 (Saturday) - 13 Nov 2005 (Sunday)
4 Tarrawarra Road Coldstream, Victoria 3770 Australia
Open Garden Weekend, November 2005.
The annual fund-raising event of the Road Trauma Support Team of Victoria Inc. (RTSTV) will this year once again be held at the stunning Rose Nursery of the Nieuwesteeg Family, in the Yarra Valley at Coldstream (Victoria, Australia), on the weekend of the 12th and 13th of November.
Now in it's tenth year, the Open Garden Weekend is facilitated by John Nieuwesteeg; a well-known Rosarian, his wife Mary, and their family. Their expansive rose display garden; set over two acres on their 30acre property in the picturesque Yarra Valley, was planted in 1987 and boasts a wide variety of species, including the Alister Clark collection (featuring Black Boy, Lorraine Lee and Lady Mann); as held under the auspices of the Ornamental Plant Conservation Association of Australia (OPCA), and a vast array of David Austin (English) roses, amongst others.
Affected by road trauma some years ago, the Nieuwesteeg Family were heartened to join the Support Team. Their association has since evolved into a major fund-raising event for the RTSTV. Proceeds from the Open Garden fund the continuing work of the Team in the provision of counselling and other volunteer services to those affected by road trauma; including those who have suffered injuries, bereaved relatives, witnesses, and those working in Emergency Services.
Potted roses and other plants, along with local produce and Art are available for sale, and visitors are encouraged to sample the fine Devonshire teas and Barbeque provided by the Team, and to enter the Draw to win exceptional prizes donated by Yarra Valley traders.
This occasion is crucial to the on-going work of the Road Trauma Support Team of Victoria, as while currently some funding is received from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), events such as these are necessary to supplement the provision of support to those affected by road trauma.
We look forward to seeing you in November 2005.
