10th Annual Rare Rose Auction
REMOVED LISTING
28 Oct 2010 (Thursday) - 14 Nov 2010 (Sunday)
Harding Community Center 3096 Harding Street Carlsbad, California 92008 United States
The Auction is designed to provide rare, unusual, hard to obtain, not yet released and no longer available rose plants to participating Bidders. Theses plants come from the hidden recesses of private gardens belonging to members and friends of CCRS, from special offerings of "off the menu" plants in various commercial nurseries throughout the USA and from Hybridizers who share their plants with us even before they are released. The aim of the CCRS Auction Committee is to provide plants that will foster pride in ownership and serve as a special point of interest in the owner's garden. We strive to provide plants of numerous types including species roses, OGRs, POL, HT, FB, MiniFl and Minis. The guiding spirit behind this Auction is John Bagnasco. John has worked in the plant industry for more than 35 years. Among other duties, he currently is a co-host of Garden Life, a nationally syndicated weekend radio show that provides horticultural information, education and entertainment to its audience. John has a passion for roses. He is both a recognized rose authority and a person genuinely interested in saving rare rose varietals from extinction. He spends a great amount of time searching for, collecting and propagating roses for this Auction. He provides the commentary and pictures of the Auction offerings each year in order to inform the Bidders about each rose. The participants traditionally provide additional comments on their personnel experience with these roses. This back and forth between John, the other Auctioneers and the Bidders serves as both an indispensable educational tool and a highly entertaining part of each Auction. The Auction is divided into two parts: a Silent Auction and a Live Auction. The lists of roses and internet bidding procedures are at this website: www.ccrsauction.org Internet bids must be received no later than 12 noon on November 13, 2010.
