Mel Hulse Receives ARS Presidential Citation
A well-deserved award was announced at the recent Spring National Convention Of The American Rose Society. Steve Jones, current ARS President, made the announcement at the society's awards banquet. Citing the original work, and continued efforts of this eminent Rosarian, Jones announced the presentation of a Presidential Citation to Mel Hulse, Director and guiding spirit of the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden.
Mel Hulse, champion of rare and endangered roses, Rose Rustler, Master Propagator, is loved by all who love roses. No one could be more deserving of such an honor. Mel was unable to be present for Jones's announcement, but Jolene Adams, Northern California-Nevada-Hawaii District Director presented his Citation in a small ceremony on July 16, in San Jose, California.
